Following a diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis-Related Diabetes (CFRD) in early 2025, the artist experienced a profound shift in both daily life and creative practice. After months of living with the condition undiagnosed and untreated, several complications emerged, including changes to vision. For a visual artist whose work relies heavily on precision and intricate detail, this presented a particularly difficult challenge.
As health stabilized and insulin therapy became part of a new routine, the artist returned to collage-making as both a creative outlet and a means of processing the experience. With the exception of Plastic Swarm / Silent Plume and Rhythm City / Hidden Era, every work in this collection was created during that period of adjustment, reflection, and renewal.
These collages explore themes of hope, grief, resilience, and the uncertainty that often accompanies chronic illness. Through unexpected connections between found images and fragments, the work reflects both the realities of living with a lifelong condition and broader personal observations about change and adaptation.
The largest piece, Power Plant, examines the relationship between community and industry, exploring how the two exist in a constructive and destructive symbiosis, each shaping and sustaining the other in an ongoing cycle of transformation.
